Beaches of Alicante

Playa del Postiguet – This city beach lies at the foot of Monte Benacantil, directly below Santa Bárbara Castle, so even while swimming you get a striking view of the city and the historic fortress. The sand is fine and golden, and the sea is shallow and deepens gradually, which makes it ideal for families and smaller children as well. A promenade runs the full length of the beach, where bars, restaurants and cafés line up, so you can always stop for a refreshing drink or some local tapas. Since it connects directly to the centre, it’s easy to reach by public transport or on foot — one of the most popular meeting places for tourists and locals alike.
Playa de San Juan – Alicante’s largest and best-known beach, stretching for kilometres to the north. The wide, fine-sand shore offers plenty of space; watersports (surf, SUP) and beach volleyball are very popular. Along the long seafront there is a row of chiringuitos and restaurants — Mediterranean mood at maximum.
Family-friendly services – accessible ramps, foot showers, showers and restrooms; lifeguards and supervised sections in high season. In many places there are also playgrounds and beach libraries.
Other nearby beaches – Playa de la Albufereta (quieter, a local favourite); the rocky coves of Cabo de las Huertas are a snorkelling and diving paradise.
